About the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza Scholarship Program

In 2025, we are excited to continue the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza Scholarship program, which was established after the success of the annual Michael Crouch Memorial Careers evening. We will be offering 2, opportunity of a lifetime experiences. Scholarships will be open to students who are in Years 10 – 12 in 2025 and will involve work placement with Waverley Station at their King Island or Waverley Station operation.

Scholarships will cover the following:

  • Return flights from Sydney to Melbourne

  • Return flights from Melbourne to King Island

  • 1 Week (5 days + 2 travel days) work placement

  • Accommodation and meals – These details will be finalised once successful applicants are notified and details surrounding dates etc. have been determined.

  • Exposure to leading industry management practices.

  • Ability to develop fundamental skills in the day to day management of a large-scale beef cattle operation.

  • Opportunity to develop key industry networks.

Eligibility

  • Students must be in Years 10 – 12 in 2025.

  • Students must be participating in the 2025 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza and be available for interview on Saturday 25 October 2025, between 2pm and 5pm.

  • Students must demonstrate a commitment to the beef industry.

  • Students must demonstrate a potential to benefit from attending the UHBB scholarship program.

  • Students must demonstrate an interest in developing their employability skills, including (not limited too); leadership, communication, teamwork, initiative, positive work ethic etc.

  • A willingness to learn and undertake tasks in line with current work place health and safety guidelines.

  • A commitment to attending the 2026 Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza Careers evening and provide a presentation of their experience. 

Scholarship Application

Students will be required to upload a 2-3-minute video which MUST address the following questions:

Questions:

  1. Provide a brief description of yourself and your background.

  2. Outline why you wish to apply for this Scholarship Program.

  3. Describe your involvement in your school agricultural program.

  4. What key attributes do you possess, which would make you a suitable candidate for the Scholarship Program.

  5. Describe how you think this Scholarship Program will assist you in your future endeavours/ career aspirations.
